Writing for Advocacy
Advocacy is and has always been an essential tool in South Africa to achieve a more equal and just society for the disadvantaged groups in our society.
In the apartheid years advocacy was highly influential in bringing about freedom and the more equitable society we now have. Since 1994 advocacy has become increasingly important in ensuring that civil society can provide those services that empower and sustain communities.
- Without organisations and people fighting for the rights of the black population
in the country during the apartheid era, the human rights abuses suffered by
many would not have been exposed and democracy achieved.
- The plight of many affected and infected with HIV/AIDS would still be swept under
the carpet and a more traditional means of medication given instead of the
life-extending anti-retrovirals had it not been for the many advocacy groups
working in this field.
- Discrimination and the abuse of women and children in South Africa are constantly
highlighted thanks to the many people advocating for their rights.
The bedrock of successful advocacy is careful planning, supported by above-average writing skills that ensures your message is accurately and proficiently communicated. This, in turn, results in the views and opinions of the marginalised in our society being heard and understood.
