Media Liaison Course
Media Liaison is an essential tool in businesses. It helps improve credibility, allows one to spread your message through credible sources other than advertising. By establishing relationships with media, you can ensure that your side of the story will always get told.
The South African Concise Oxford Dictionary defines media as the main means of mass communication (especially through television, radio and newspapers) and Liaison is defined as communication or cooperation between people and organisations.
This course is designed to equip you in acting as the link between media, people and organisations. You will learn how to build effective relationships with media and how to manage these on an ongoing basis as well as how to communicate effectively with your organisation’s target audience using the power of media.
At the end of this course, candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to:
- Identify specific media segments appropriate to the organisation’s communications
needs;
- Identify specific media through which to communicate;
- Identify journalists in each medium with whom to build relationships;
- Make and maintain contact with journalists;
- Write a media release under pressure; and
- Understand the link between business and media.
